As a photographer, I have always been blessed with beautiful.sleepy and happy newborns!  This will normally weigh true for newborns who are within a week or so old.

*babes on board reminder* if you are pregnant and looking to have newborn photos done, be sure to contact me in advance, that way I can know when (abouts) to expect to schedule your session.  I get booked months in advance for general sessions and weddings, but I always leave time and space to accommodate my newborn clients.  Either way, don’t delay.. let me know soon!  I absolutely love looking forward to babes in the studio!!

This little mister was sound asleep for just about the entire session.  When I say entire, I mean all but like 10 minutes at the very end!!  For that I say-WUHUHI5 buddy!!

I absolutely LOVE this wide-eyed image of him, have to call it one of my fav’s!!

I had the pleasure of meeting two of the sweetest little gentlemen and their lovely mama at this amazing, outdoor country-haven!

The evening light here is so delicious, and the proof is in the preview!!

Newborn sessions differ quite a bit from your average photo session-working to get a sleepy, snuggly baby can take a bit of time, patience and even some genius.  Both boys made my job a breeze, but an extra special hands down to big brother, who was not only a super-trooper through it all, but a huge help to me during the session!!

Of course could not pick just a couple favorites, so with that I leave you with a handful from their gallery.

Enjoy! xo

What is the Pictures of Hope Foundation?

Pictures of Hope is a charitable organization of professional photographers who provide complimentary, documentary-style, photography sessions to babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and their families.  The Pictures of Hope Foundation is comprised of photographers (many of whom are “NICU mothers” themselves) from across the United States and Canada who are dedicated to donating their time to a cause they believe in, and sharing the gift of photography with families in need.

Why Pictures of Hope?

Throughout pregnancy most parents don’t anticipate the possibility of their baby needing to stay in the NICU after birth. Whatever that reason may be, time spent in the NICU is often an unexpected journey for families, a journey full of overwhelming emotions…sadness, confusion, hope, celebration, and unfortunately, at times grief. Throughout this roller coaster of emotions, many parents do not consider the importance of documenting these precious moments in their lives nor do they think about how much they will truly cherish these images years down the road. In some cases, a little extra TLC from the NICU is needed to be sure the little one gets off to the best possible start, for these families on the road to well being, photographs are a wonderful reminder of just how far their little one has come, however, photographs also play a necessary and very important role in the healing process for other families. In the most heart breaking circumstances, photos may be the only tangible keepsakes some parents have of their precious little one. All Pictures of Hope participating photographers are dedicated to providing NICU families with invaluable images you will cherish forever, captured in a sensitive and caring manner.

jenny: Congratulations! What an incredible way to give back to your community.

Danielle Renee: I LOVE that you are doing this! What an incredible way to give back! The NICU is near and dear to my heart because both our neice and our best friend's babies spent significant time in the NICU! It is also wonderful to document because many loved ones are not able to visit the baby while in there and so they can look back at the journey also!
